Evolution

This term we are learning about evolution. This is my title page for evolution. I did a sort of acrostic poem and linked every word to evolution. Here is my title page.

Animal Classification

Today we learned about how animals are classified into groups. Animals are either vertebrates  (which means they have a spine) or invertebrates (which don't have a spine).

Invertebrates are animals like jellyfish, crabs, insects and octopus.

Vertebrates are put into five groups. They are mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and amphibians. Mammals have fur or hair and give birth to live young. Birds have feathers and lay hard eggs. Reptiles are cold-blooded and lay soft eggs. Amphibians breathe through  their skin and need to keep their skin moist. Fish breathe through gills and have fins.

Five examples of each type:

Mammals: rabbits, llamas, giraffes, koala and tiger.

Birds: penguins,parrots,swans,eagles and owls.

Reptiles: sea turtles, snakes, alligators, chameleons and tuataras.

Amphibians: frogs, salamanders, toads and newts.

Fish: sharks,eels,fish, seahorses, and stingray.

The Turtles of Namuana

I made a wanted poster because in the legend The Turtles of Namuana, Princess Tinicoboga and her daughter get kidnapped. This is a wanted poster for the men that kidnapped them. I made up their names and appearances. We did this activity because we have been learning about Pacific Island myths and legends.

Hansel and Gretel

Today in drama we did small snippets of Hansel and Gretel. Some of the groups put a twist on the fairytale. This is a video of my group's skit that we did. I learnt how to get into character. It was a really fun thing to do and I can't wait for our next drama project.

Jesus' saving work

Today in R.E we did dances, skits, mimes and posters to represent Jesus' saving work. Saving work is  what Jesus did to save us. The three things that he did were helping the weak, forgiveness and healing. This is my group's dance of one of Jesus' miracles.
